If you did not, you were in good company as Jay raised many a dollar via this quiz.

Meeting Minutes 07/13/2009 |
Members at the July 13 meeting sang America to the playing of pianist extraordinaire Gary Freeman. Ben Stowell gave the invocation.
As there were no visitors at the meeting, Club members missed the opportunity to sing our favorite song – Guests of Rotary.
EL SALVADOR TRIP – Doug Mealey announced that reservations were being placed for next year’s El Salvador trip – at prices $250 less than the previous trip. It appears that the adult trip will overlap with the student version which is leaving February 17 and returning February 25. Doug requests that anyone interested in participating next February contact him as soon as possible.
EDUCATION START-UP – Jane Kirk informed Club members that this committee, which does so much good for needy area students, will meet next week. Jane encouraged all committee members as well as other Rotarians interested in participating in its work to attend this meeting. Members are requested to bring their calendars, as Jane wants to assess people’s weekend availability prior to the onset of the busy season from August through October.

Meeting Minutes 06/22/2009 |
President Juliana clanged the meeting to order and turned the preliminaries over to the multi-tasking Gary Freeman, who led the assembled members in “God Bless America” and delivered the invocation. President Elect (and president-elect) Peter Hansel, in his last tune-up before taking over the podium beginning in July, introduced visiting Rotarians and guests. Among them was Janet Hanson, a member of the Superior (Wisc.) Sunrise Centennial Club who was visiting with her family and who exchanged club banners before being regaled by Gary and the dulcet-toned membership with “Guests of Rotary”.
HONORING ED WINTER – Also among the guests was Sandy Winter, Ed’s wife of almost 42 years. Juliana asked Sandy to join her and Peter Brnger at the podium, and Juliana delivered a fitting tribute to Ed for his life and service, including his Rotary service. She then announced that Ed had been awarded a posthumous Paul Harris Fellowship, and Peter also presented Sandy with a mounted Rotary gavel to commemorate Ed’s service as Club president.
SPARE ROOM NEEDED – Louise Zerba announced that the incoming exchange student will be Jesus Antonio “Chuy” Aragon, who will be visiting Keene from Mexico during the upcoming school year. Louise reported that she has located host families for Chuy through March 2010, but is seeking one additional host family from April 1 to the end of the school year. Any member interested in hosting Chuy or knowing of another family that might host him during that period should contact Louise.
MORNING CLUB MUSHING REMINDER – Bill Stevens reminded members that the annual thrashing of the Thursday morning club in Mushball is scheduled to take place this Saturday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Nelson. In view of the quality of competition, Bill indicated those planning to play would not need to show up for a pregame warm-up until 1:45 p.m.
PEDDLE THOSE LOBSTER DUCATS – Janet Warren has thus far refrained from threatening bodily harm to members who haven’t yet turned in their Lobster raffle tickets. Her patience may be running thin, however, so members may want to turn their tickets in ASAP before learning which of Janet’s farm implements she may employ to make sure all tickets are sold.
PRESIDENT’S NIGHT – Juliana delivered a final reminder that the annual President’s Night festivities will take place next Monday, June 29, at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in Nelson. Spouses and guests are welcome, and the cost is $10 per person, payable at the event. The social hour kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 6:30, followed by the meeting and, at 8:00, a dress rehearsal for the following night’s performance of the Young Artists Piano Quartet. Members should also note that there will be no luncheon meeting that day.
FOUNDATION FRIVOLITY – Bill Stevens led a rollicking Foundation session, interspersed with U.S. Open updates. Bill’s principal money-extracting method was a series of top-ten lists, which served the cause well.

Meeting Minutes 06/15/2009 |
The June 15 meeting kicked off with Gary Freeman doing triple duty, first from the keyboard in accompanying the opening rendition of “My country, ‘tis of thee”. From the piano bench, Gary then hied to the podium to deliver the invocation, before hustling back during introductions of visiting guests and Rotarians to lead a typically stirring and virtually atonal version of “Guests of Rotary”. Gary was then allowed to return to his meal and, to his credit, seemed neither breathless nor any the worse for wear.
COMMITTEE LISTS – President Juliana Bergeron reminded all that the revised and final list of committee assignments for the upcoming 2009-2010 Rotary Year was available. She also announced that an ad-hoc social committee has been organized. For now, she and Louise Zerba are on the committee, but additional members will be enlisted to address the needs of particular social activities as they occur. Which of course led to a discussion of . . .
PRESIDENT’S NIGHT – As detailed more fully in a group e-mail to the membership, President’s Night is scheduled for Monday, June 29 at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in Nelson. Spouses and guests are welcome, and the cost is $10 per person, payable at the event. The social hour kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 6:30, followed by the meeting in the Hoffman Auditorium and, at 8:00, a dress rehearsal for the following night’s performance of the Young Artists Piano Quartet. Presumably this will allow Gary Freeman a welcome Monday off from keyboard duty. And speaking of social events, don’t forget . . .
MUSHBALL CHALLENGE – Bill Stevens reminded all of the upcoming mushball game against the Thursday morning club, to be held in Nelson on Saturday, June 27. Contact Bill for details.
EL SALVADOR CHAPERONES NEEDED – Doug Mealey announced that he is seeking names of possible chaperones for the 2010 winter trip to El Salvador. The trip dates have not been finalized, but the next excursion will probably be in February.
SELL THOSE LOBSTER TIX – Janet Warren exhorted all to get busy selling lobster raffle tickets.
FOUNDATION – John Rider presided over a productive fundraising session, managing to stump most members with a variety of questions about flag arcana to honor Flag Day.
